Life Update

It seems like forever ago that I posted anything on this. I guess the original reason I started this blog was to show my progress for my artwork at Uni. But since then I have graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Ancient History and minors in Literature and Art.

I also met my now Fiancee who I am planning on marrying later this year.

I had major reconstructive jaw surgery which took me quite a while to recover from and was unbelievably painful.

My parents got divorced and I moved out of home.

I am now 23 years old and looking for our first apartment together with our cat, which is proving exceptionally difficult in my current area.

I don't draw as much as I used to. But I guess that is just the product of not having enough time to do so anymore.

I have basically finished the first draft of my novel which is very exciting. But now comes the super shitty task of having to go through the whole thing and edit it to see if it still makes sense; which I am absolutely dreading. But I am proud of myself that I have got it to where it is today because I started it in it's current form when I was in my first year of Uni, and now five years later, it is one step closer to being sold. (This book I am referencing is available to read in its raw form on Wattpad which is linked in my profile under 'Choice'. Please read it and leave a comment or favourite)

All in all, I am happy where I am now and doing well. I have a stable job where I am helping people and it makes me feel good to know that I am giving them a helping hand when they are down and out.

The past few months since I last posted have held a lot of ups and downs.
With the stress of trying to finish my Uni semester with the exams and other assignments has taken a stressful tole on me. But evidently it has paid off because my effort has shown in my marks.
I received my first ever credit this semester and I am very proud of it. But I was not expecting to get another one as well.
In my downtime I have been filling it with watching TV to relax as well as reading stories on Wattpad.
Some of the best ones I have read have been:

'Just one night'
'I'm a supermodel in a boy's boarding school…Fun? Hell no.'
'Anything for a friend'
'Best-friends with benefits'
'The werewolf on my doorstep'

And I am currently reading 'The Cell Phone Swap'.

My favorites would have to be though "Best-friends with benefits" because of the way it was written and how authentic the characters felt, "Just one night" because it wasn't your typical teenage story cliche and dealt with issues that were more current, and "Supermodel in a boy's boarding school" because it was so funny while also maintaining a sense of depth to the characters.

Reading these stories has also been good because last weekend I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed and have been healing for the past week now, the swelling slowly going down and my mouth becoming less and less sensitive as the stitches close the wounds. For anyone who hasn't their wisdom's surgically removed, it is very painful.

I am so excited about this coming friday as I am going overseas on my annual christmas family holiday and I am excited about being able to relax in the sun.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Painting progress

I finally finished my expressive colour painting and I am pretty happy with it. I only had to finish painting the cow and the person so it didn't take that long.
However, even though I have finished this one, I still have another painting for this project to do. Even though I still have to finish a painting that was due last month and I will be getting a new painting I have to do tomorrow. After spending an hour or working on it, it looks like this.
I don't like how it looks so far but I hope that my teacher tomorrow can give me some good direction.

Painting progress

I finally finished my 100 colours last week. It was a long and painstaking process and I am not entirely happy with it but I was sick of looking at it and not knowing what to do with it and I was happy enough with it to submit it. I only hope that I get some good marks for it.
On that same day, I also started a new project in art. My painting is an expressive painting where I take a painting from one of the 'old masters' and create a modern spin on it. I am quite happy with it's progress after only one session.
As always, I would love to get some feedback from you. And I promise to update again soon.

Painting progress

Since I got a lot of views for my post about my dog Gucci and our couch cuddles, I will make a mental note to post some more pictures of him. But for now I would like to share with you my progress with my art project for Uni. It is an abstract painting with tessolating shapes (repeate overlapping). I am looking forward to it being completed.
This first photo was from my 4 hour painting day and I got pretty far. I had painted on it a little before that but I hadn't made too much progress.

This is from today and I got quite a bit done. I only have a bit more to do and then I can submit it. Thank god my Uni let's art students go to the gallery on the weekends. Most University's wouldn't be this accommodating

Also, if anyone wants to comment on any of my posts, I would happily message them back. I love getting comments

I just had a lovely phone call with my mum but joining in was the birds. Apparently, Jerry our cockatoo was talking to my caller ID, but I only heard him once. It was adorable!
But the only down side was hearing our other bird Kramer screech loudly over the phone. I think I might be deaf from that.

Couch cuddles

There's something so satisfying about getting all my work done for the day and being able to just sit and relax and watch mind numbing TV. And what makes it even better is curling up with a blanked and my beautiful couch companion Gucci. He always makes me feel better and keeps my lap warm while he sleeps in it.

Guitar accomplishment

Normally I am not big on sharing me singing or playing guitar with the world because I feel that I am not good enough, but I feel this this is a significant feat for me because , 1) I have written my own song and 2) I can sing and play it at the same time. Something I haven't been able to do so well before.
So here me playing two songs, the first one is one I wrote and the second is an Iconic Australian song, and yes, they both have the same chords.

Just a little something to make you smile

So after seeing Mortal Instruments last night with my mum, I decided to surprise her today with buying the first three books for her and I and I picked her a flower and placed it in a jar of water for her when she gets home. Over the past few months mum hasn't been unwell and in and out of hospital with having a double hernia repair, a repair of it because it was not done properly, a hysterectomy, and now she is having problems with her belly again. The first time she had been in hospital, the doctors hadn't been able to figure out what was wrong with her, sent her home even though she was in a lot of pain. She then she saw a series of specialists, they still couldn't figure it out.
Recently she had to drive herself up to hospital because she was in so much pain she was screaming. Dad had to talk to the doctors to make sure that they figured it out and didn't stuff around like the other doctors and they were able to come up with her ovary being wrapped with endemetriosis, a diagnosis that her OBGYN brushed off as a hormonal normal thing.
I felt that it would be really nice to do something for her to make her feel better and give her a little bit more joy to distract her from her pain because she is not only my mum but my best friend too.

What is actually among us?

I just finished seeing Mortal Instruments with my mum, movie which we both have been hanging out to see, and loved it. There was something about the mentioning of Angels, demons, monsters and witch craft that makes a person wonder whether these things actually exist in our world today but we are just blind to it. And maybe one day we will wake up and see the world for what it truly is.

First Blog

So I'm not really much of a blogger. I had to set one up on wordpress for Uni but that's kinda different. I had a blog perviously but I deleted it because it was stupid and no one looked at it.
I originally created this so that I could follow an artist and get updates on his artworks but now that I have it, it got me thinking that this could be a healthy digital journal for the mundane. A vice to simply express myself and what I am feeling and to maybe help or touch people.
